Adele, fully known as Adele Laurie Blue Adkins, was born on May 5th, 1988 in Enfield, North London. She was born to Penny Adkins and Mark Evan, and it was a family with no musical background.
When Adele was very young and was just 3 years old, her father left her and her mother. So she was raised by her single mother who was 18 years old when Adele was born. She was raised in various working-class neighborhoods of London.
From four years old, Adele was obsessed with emotive voices and her real musical interest came when she discovered Etta James and Ella Fitzgerald records at a thrift store. Her mother encouraged her to test her limits and explore her creative sides.
She used to set up a stage show for her in their own home where Adele was the performer and her mother’s friends use to be the audience. She enjoyed singing contemporary pop music and learned to play the guitar and the clarinet.
When Adele was too little, she spent many hours listening to the spice girls. Her style of music was influenced by these spice girls. Later in life, Adele was heavily influenced by the vocal stylings of female artist Amy Winehouse. And the two later got to perform as a duo together at the Brit Awards.

At the age of 10, she moved to South London. Adele was not that interested in the traditional classroom settings. She did not enjoy school until she was 14 years old. So at the age of 14, she left public school and attended the BRIT performing arts school.
Adele too liked to imitate the all-girls band as many teenagers swept with the ‘Spice Girls’ fever in the 90s. She was a fan of British singer Gabrielle. And one day, her father who happened to be a dance producer praised the color of Adele’s voice and so Adele’s spirit in music was lifted.

After graduating from BRIT school in May 2006, she toured around with affiliates Jack Penate, Jamie T, and Davendra Banhart. She released an album called “Hometown Glory” through Jamie T’s indie label, Pacemaker records, and it was only available on 7-inch vinyl format.

She confirmed later that year that she had returned “Skyfall” for the 23rd James Bond movie. In October 2015, the album was announced with the title “25”. A snippet of the first single “Hello” Vos premiered during a commercial break on U.K.’s ‘The X Factor. This was released in full a few days later along with its music video. And this became Vevo’s most viewed clip in 24 hours, dethroning Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood”. It spent two weeks at No. 1 on the Hot 100.

When everything seemed to go well and she was having a fantastic career. But then while she was singing live on French radio, she felt like someone put a curtain over her throat. She felt like something popped in her throat.
And then she found out that she had a polyp on her vocal cord that had hemorrhaged. So she had laser surgery where lasers were put down on her throat, cut off the polyp, and kind of laser the hemorrhage back together and fix it.
When she found out about issues in her vocal cord, she went to see a doctor, and he said that she had damaged vocal cords and there was no option but to cancel her remaining shows. It was like the most powerful young voice in the music business had fallen silent.
To repair the injury, she underwent an incredibly delicate, high-risk medical intervention. It was risky because the instrument is not allowed to touch any health issues because it would damage the underlayer of Adele’s vocal cords. If he pierced that, that would be no way to preserve the power and suppleness of the voice.
Vocal cord microsurgery is considered risky because sometimes it will leave the damaged voice beyond repair. More than physical damage, the damage to the career was feared a lot.
But no one could stop her because on February 12th, 2012, three months after her surgery, she received six awards at the Grammys, including album of the year and song of the year. This was a cheering comeback story and for the medical specialists, it was a watershed moment.
