Taylor Swift, in full Taylor Alison Swift, was born on December 13, 1989, in West Reading, Pennsylvania. She was born to Scott Kingsley Swift, a stockbroker, and Andrea Gardner Swift, who previously worked as a fund marketing executive. She has a brother called Austin who is an actor.  

The early years of Taylor Swift were spent on the Christmas tree farm with her parents in nearby Wyomissing. She with her younger was raised as Presbyterian.  She attended preschool and elementary school at the Alvernia Montessori school and during vacations, she use to attend Bible school. 

Her grandmother had been a professional Opera singer. And so at age 9, Taylor Swift became interested in music and she started taking vocal and acting lessons in New York City. Her inspirations were Shania Twain and Faith Hill, and so she decided to focus on country music.

To Help her touring schedule through homeschooling, she transferred to Aaron Academy 2 years later, and a year early she graduated high school.

In 2005, at a showcase in Nashville’s Bluebird Cafe, Taylor Swift caught the attention of Scott Borchetta, a record executive who was preparing to form an independent record label, Big Machine Records. Becoming one of the Big Machine’s first signings, her father purchased a three percent share of the company.

In 2006, her first single “Tim McGraw” was released and to her surprise, it became a Top 10 hit on the country charts. In that same year, on the month of October, this appeared on her self-titled debut album. This went on to sell more than 5 million copies peaking at number five on the Billboard 200 and spent the most weeks on the chart in the 2000s.

In October 2014, 1989 was released as a step further away from her country music. It was a period of low album sales, but 1989, in its first week moved more than 1.2 million copies, making Swift the first artist to top the 1 million mark in opening-week sales for three albums. 

“Shake It Off”, “Blank Space”, and “Bad Blood”, were the three of its singles and reached number one in Australia, Canada, and the US.

It debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200, with first-week sales of 1.21 million copies. She became the first act to have four albums sell one million copies within one week in the US.

 She went on board her reputation Stadium Tour, in support of reputation which ran from May to November 2018. In the US, the tour grossed $266.1 million at the box office and sold over two million tickets, breaking Swift’s own record for the highest-grossing US tour by a woman, which was previously held by her 1989 World Tour ($181.5 million). 

It also became the highest-grossing North American concert tour in history which grossed $345.7 million. On December 31st, Swift released the reputation Stadium Tour concert film on Netflix.

The awards she received

1989 won 3 categories at the 58th Grammy Awards in 2016 and one of the categories was Album of the Year. 

Taylor Swift became the first woman and fifth act overall to win Album of the Year twice as a lead artist. 

She received the inaugural Dick Clark Award for Excellence at the 2014 American Music Awards. 

Swift also won a BRIT, several VMAs, and multiple other accolades which solidified the 1989 era as the most awarded pop era of all time. 

She collaborated with Zayn Malik early in 2017, on “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever”, for the Fifty Shades Darker soundtrack which reached number two in the US and won Best Collaboration at the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards.

 “Better Man” was released on Little Big Town’s seventh album, The Breaker, and earned Swift an award for Song of the Year at the 51st CMA Awards in 2017.

At the 61st Grammy Awards in 2019, the Reputation album was nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album.

Taylor Swift then dated Mayer but that ended on bad terms when she wrote the tell-all song “Dear John” about the womanizer, and it was just for a brief period.
