She was being bullied at school due to her skin color. She was mocked and the bullying did not stop her even when she was older.

She faced constant bullying and it helped shape her and prepare her for a life in the limelight, a life that can be cruel and unforgiving.

And had to deal with a broken family. She felt her father was the reason for the break-up of her family. He was addicted to drugs and her mother was disapproving of her father’s behavior constantly.

The constant arguments her parents maintained due to Ronald Fenty’s addiction to cocaine caused her severe headaches. She hid this condition from her friends and classmates so they would not think she was abnormal.

The headaches went on from the age of 8 until Rihanna was 14, but the doctors had no answers for the migraine-like attacks. They believed that Rihanna may have a tumor of some sort, cause it was that intense.

When she was young, her father sold clothes on the street or out of his car to make a living. She used to join and sell stuff on the side of the street.

Her entrepreneurial spirit

As the oldest child in the family, her upbringing made her staunchly independent. Her father helped mold her into the woman she would become. He taught her how to fish, how to swim, how to run, and how to ride and he really toughened her up.

She’d come outside of the store and put up a rack and sell hats and belts and scarves.  She would also buy sweets, put them in packages and take them to school to sell to her friends for a profit.

It was that entrepreneurial spirit that Rihanna’s father thought that she would end up in business.

She prevailed before her two companions with her vice, singing emotionally. He was impressed by the talented Rihanna. He felt like the two other girls didn’t exist the minute Rihanna walked into the room.
