The early life of Charlize Theron
Charlize Theron was born on August 7, 1975, in rural Benoni, South Africa. She was born to the co-owners of a road construction company, Charles and Gerda, an Afrikaans-speaking family. They lived on a working farm outside of Johannesburg. Her childhood chores involved livestock.
Theron in her early life had a passion for dance and she began ballet lessons at age six. Her parents encouraged her talent and she was sent to a Johannesburg boarding school to study dance at the age of 12.
Although she was involved in livestock and dances, she was living in an unhappy household. Her father Charles was struggling with alcoholism and he became physically abusive.
In 1991, Theron was 15 years old and her father violently attacked Charlize and her mother. The physical abuse was so extreme threatened them with a gun. When he began shooting, Theron’s mother grabbed her gun and fired back, killing him in self-defense.
Gerda was never charged with a crime and the jury stated that the killing was in self-defense. For her mother, raising up her kid was never easy and she suffered a lot of problems as well. In the wake of the death, Gerda assumed ownership of the company, and Theron concocted a story that her father had been the victim of a lethal car accident.
Charlize Theron studied at Putfontein Elementary School. There she had several problems integrating with the other children and had some attention problems. Her mother then decided to send her to a boarding school and began her studies at the National School of the Arts in Johannesburg.
She is very confident and fluent in both English and Afrikaans. She began to develop taste for dance and it was what she did during her free time. Her mother knew that it was the thing that relaxed her. A manager contacted her when she was at the age of 16, and offered her a contract as a model for a year in the Italian city of Milan.
Then they moved to New York, where. Actually, she had no intention of continuing with modeling, a life that did not fascinate her. What she loved was dancing, but her career was slowed by a knee injury at the age of 19 that made her impossible for life.
